  • Hyper Wash/Dressing

I've noticed the Detailer Line Hyper Wash and Hyper Dressing Meguiar's Products, but can't seem to find much on either of them in the forums. I'm not saying the information isn't there, i'm simply saying I haven't had much luck locating it with the search feature.

Does Hyper Wash have advantages over the consumer line wash products, such as Gold Class and or NXT?

What is Hyper Dressing? Where would you apply this product specifically?

    Re: Hyper Wash/Dressing

The Hyper-products are meant to be used in bulk, and so have high dilution rates. For a regular consumer, that also means a little goes a long way.

But not really the 'best' at anything. Gold Class or #62 are probably the most gentle soaps with the most lubrication.

And Hyper Dressing isnt going to be the most durable dressing on the exterior, or feel as dry to the touch as some others on the interior.

So its just a tradeoff like anything else. They are good products for the price, or pay a little more for the 'better' ones.

Hyper Dressing is a water based dressing that you can use on exteriors, interiors, engines, and tires (and probably more). It's appeal is that you can control the gloss/sheen by how far down you dilute it. It's also very economical. The tradeoff is that it does not have the durability of something that is non-water-based like All Season Dressing.

The entire Detailer Line is essentially an industrial chemical line of products. You'll notice that everything comes in 1 gallon containers when you shop for them on major detailing supply websites, but they also come in 5 gallon containers, 55 gallon drums, and even 3500 gallon tote bins. We supply these chemicals to large automatic car washes, Manheim Auctions and other places that do very high volume work. At Manheim locally here in Riverside, CA their storage and pumping installation pumps diluted product through a series of overhead pipes to dispensing stations for their employees. As you can see in the image below, they have 55 gallon drums of product sitting next to 55 gallon drums of water - lines draw out the appropriate amount for proper dilution ratios, depending on product, and the resulting liquid is pumped throughout the building.

Many of these products have found favor with professional detailers and enthusiast weekend warriors. The Detailer Line Glass Cleaner Concentrate is very popular since it's a great glass cleaner at a very cost effective price. All Purpose Cleaner and APC + are hugely popular for their broad cleaning ability, both in the car and around the house. Last Touch is right up there in terms of popularity, and so is Hyper Dressing.

As has been mentioned, Hyper Dressing is a water based dressing with what amounts to a variable gloss level depending on how it's diluted. But the car wash soaps in this line were mostly designed to meet certain industrial criteria and variables. For example, while most of them are designed to be diluted 128:1 with water, there are some industrial wash installations using equipment that dilutes at 400:1. Obviously a 128:1 product just isn't going to work in that equipment, so we created a 400:1 dilution product for that market. Like Mat points out, none of this is done in search of any "best" product, but rather a product to fit a specific need. Super Soap, for example, is our only car wash soap built with low pressure delivery in mind; the sort of thing you'll find when using a foam gun, foam cannon or similar. Sure, you can any of our car washes in those systems, but only Super Soap was created with that in mind - and it does generate a crazy amount of suds when used that way.

We have a write up of a recent trip to Manheim Auctions here, if you're interested in seeing what a facility that reconditions 375 cars a day looks like.

        Yep, 375 cars.

        Every day.

Thanks for that Manheim link Mike -- that's incredibly interesting. Would you happen to have a picture of one of the 3500 gallon containers? I can't even imagine.

There has to be a picture somewhere of one of those big tote bins, but since they ship directly from the manufacturing point in the MidWest to the customer, we don't always have someone hanging around with a camera when that happens.
