Is there a thread somewhere that steps you through all the necessary stages of washing/correcting/waxing? I'm not talking about full detail, but something that tells you the order of doing it and what products can be used for each step and the strength of the products listed in order.

It seems like from the looks of this the black pad is harsher than the yellow pad.

Nope, the black pad is the softest pad we make and it is designed specifically for finish polishing, wax application, etc. The yellow pad is a stiffer, firmer foam and as such will provide some cut that helps with the defect removal process when using paint cleaners and compounds.

So I went ahead and attempted to remove swirls from my hood with the DA and swirlX. Followed the instructions and did it, took it out in the sun, and I have more swirls! Smaller, more collected swirls. Totally frustrated.

What pad, what tool speed, how much pressure, how long did you work the product?

4 on the dial, yellow pad and moderate pressure. I noticed the product doesn't turn translucent. It always stays cloudy. I'm not sure why.

It sounds like you're introducing a DA haze to the finish, which is a bit odd for SwirlX. You didn't by any chance buff until was dry, did you? Can we assume you're working on the black Camaro here? We've never known these cars to have delicate paint - far from it. But you never know!

Try this: apply a thin circle of product to a yellow pad and work it into the pad surface with your fingers, essentially priming the pad (even if only partially). Now apply just several drops - 4 or 5 - of product to the pad and work an area no larger than 2' x 2' at speed 4, moderate pressure. Move the pad slowly side to side, then up and down, then repeat both directions and stop. Wipe off the residue with a clean, dry microfiber and re-evaluate in direct sunlight. If that doesn't clear up the haze, try the same thing with a black (or tan) finishing pad.

Any chance you can capture an image of this hazing?

Yeah I'll shoot some photos this weekend. The weather is crummy, so i can't get good shots. But I'll try that. Should the product still turn translucent like it did by hand?

It should, but then it will take a lot longer and take more effort before it does turn translucent if done by hand.

@ffboy I am using a DA and it isn't turning clear at all. No matter how long I use it.

Any remedy on why with the polisher, the product isn't turning clear?

BUMP? I tried again, I do an overlaping pattern it start to turn clear and then it seems like it get white again when i over lap. I grew some balls and tried the hood of my Camaro because I had scratches on it, Now it seems like the scatches are gone but im left with a nice ammount of clustered swirl marks, almost like spider web against a light. I've gone over it a few times and its crummy. I can notice it with a LED flash light. Am I wrong in thinking that I can get a defect free shine? Or am i creating a small group of scratches? It seems like the small group of scratches. I'm so confused, i've spent hours watching videos and i don't understand why I cant accomplish something which apparently is very easy to do, with out making matters worse. Is it possible to remove the swrils i've installed or am i stuck with that (remove without wet sanding)

A few suggestions : Pick out a 2x2 area to try insted of the whole hood
Make sure it is perfectly clean
Did you claybar first ?
Try M250 with black pad first
If not getting result move to yellow pad
Dont overwork 20 to 30 seconds should be enough
Mark your backing plate and apply even pressure you should see the backing plate rotating
Prime your pad first
When you remove polish use side to side motion This would show you if you are putting the
swirls in with your microfiber.
Also you might try reducing your buffer speed to 3.5 or 4
Keep your pad flat to surface

Could dried up SwirlX result in something like this?
Seeing that the OP is in FL... justing wondering if the OP was working in direct sunlight that could dry up the product faster than it should?

I do notice that the swirls do look similar to the texture of the solution I'm putting on my hood. I didn't do the entire good. Just an area, I'll try and get some pictures out this weekend. I work two jobs so I only do this on the weekend. Marking the backing plate will do what? Also my pads are sponge. Not microfiber. And all of this is being done in a garage at roughly 79 degrees.

^ No expert here and not speaking from experience but wanted to chime in on what I have read.
When using a DA and applying too much pressure, sometimes the DA will stop to spin.
Marking the backing plate will let you know if you are applying too much pressure.
