  • Do you use 3 buckets? 2 for the paint and 1 for wheels...

I first started out using 2 buckets. I would first wash the car and then do my wheels last with the remaining water and soap. But I found that the bucket I was using to clean my wheels and tires would have small blacks lines and marks inside the bucket and so I am now going to buy a separate bucket just for the wheels and tires. I will just add maybe a gallon of water along with some soap and do the wheels first and won't have to worry about getting tar or whatever the black stuff is inside the buckets I use to clean the paint.

I don't use a bucket for my wheels.....I just spray on some wheel brightener or APC+ agitate wheels/tires and then hose off

Yeah, I do wheels with a seperate one first. I dont really put soap in, just water, and spray the cleaner on the wheels. More of a rinse bucket.

Though I will have to try something new since I want to just use soapy water with the Break Dust Barrier.

I use three buckets, two for paint, one for wheels.

Since I wash my wheels reasonably often I only need to use wash soap to clean them.

                  LOL

Also, I guess it depends on peoples circumstances. I like to detail my car and when I am bored I will wash my roommates car, he seems to be blind in terms of seeing a dirty car. Also, I don't live far from my sister so when I visit her I will offer to wash hers and her daughters car. lol.......Can't help it. And I would rather me wash it than them spending money on a wash.

So if I was just to clean my car maybe I could use 2 buckets but since I like to wash anybody's car that is dirty, I like using 3 buckets since their tires and wheels are usually very dirty.

I use my rinse bucket with some soapy water (usually something cheap I have on hand....deep crystal wash, or some dish soap). I clean wheels and tires with APC+ and just use it as a rinse bucket. The soap in the water helps release the dirt out of the brush. I then rinse it out really well and put a grit guard in and then proceed to wash the car with the regular 2-bucket method.

I use the two bucket method with grit guards in each bucket, but one microfiber wash mitt (the blue one) is used on the body, and one microfiber wash mitt (the yellow one) is used on the wheels. That is if wheels are only moderately dirty. If I am doing some thing horribly dirty or caked with brake dust - that is handled on a case by case basis.

I started using the 3 bucket approach after seeing what was coming off the wheels. The wheel bucket will have a thin black residue even after rinsing so decided not to take a chance with the paint. I go through a bit more soap but feel the paint stays in better shape.
