  • Black Interior Pieces Turning Foggy, Cloudy White Color

I have two pieces in my interior that have become a whitish foggy, cloudy color. I believe it is due to a previous product applied several years ago. Normally I just wipe down the interior with a damp cloth. Once I was short on time and had someone do it. They applied some greasy wet looking product to the interior. I didn't like it so I removed as much of it as I could. A few months later certain pieces starting to turn color. Here are two pieces I'm wanting to make black again. I'm not sure what happened here. The ignition is metal and the switch is plastic. Notice on the ignition it's just the end piece that has washed out. Anything I can do? Any Meguiar's product that would solve this?

The ignition is probably more down to your key hunting for the key hole than anything else. The switch is probably more of a rubberized type of finish, which tends to be a bit more porous than other surfaces. This can be impacted even by the oils in your fingertips, accumulating over time, and causing a degradation of the surface. A small amount of Ultimate Black or Ultimate Protectant, worked into it pretty well, should take care of it.

Will that work on the ignition as well since it's painted metal? There are some key scratches on the ignition but the picture doesn't really show that the entire ignition piece is bleached out.

Since the ignition is painted metal you could use any of our paint cleaners on it - ScratchX 2.0, Ultimate Compound, etc. But the scratches may be deep enough that you won't get them out completely, just be aware of that going in.
