  • One steps - All in ones

    Need some clarifications -

    Cleaner Wax
    ColorX
    M06
    M66
    D151
    1. Are these each considered "all-in-one" products?
    2. Are these all of the Meguiar's one step products or are there others?
    3. Are they shown above in level of aggressiveness?
    4. Are they all non-abrasive?
    5. How do they clean if non-abrasive, what is the chemical action involved?
    6. What is the order of the above for wax longevity, same?

    1. Yes, these products are all cleaner waxes/ all-in-ones.

    2. M20 Polymer Sealant and D301 Finishing Wax are also cleaner waxes.

    3. The aggressiveness level is correct.
M20 would be similar to A12, and D301 to ColorX.

    4. I'm not sure about A12 Cleaner Wax - it may have chemical cleaners, all others use abrasives.

    5. A12 Cleaner Wax and DC1 Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner may use chemical cleaners.

    6. D301 offers similar protection lenght to M26 High Tech Yellow Wax. D151 seems to last pretty long just by itself as well.
Generally it's a good idea to top a cleaner wax with a finishing wax.

Now that Color X is getting harder and harder to find OTC, would you say that M66 and D151 are safe enough to use every quarter/3 mos. with DA application on a well kept DD 2011 F150?

#6 or #66 would probably be the better choices than D151 for regular use.

Re: One steps - All in ones

Greg wrapped this up in a nice, tidy little package for you, David.

It should be noted, however, that D151 can be used with a DA or rotary, and with anything from a wool cutting pad down to a foam finishing pad, so it's incredibly versatile. It's mix of polymer and carnauba will give it the longest lasting protection of the bunch.

Something to consider with M06, though - if you're working on a car with really delicate paint and just light swirls, especially on a dark color, you'll be amazed what it can do both for defect removal and darkening of the paint.

                Hi Mike,
Interesting, which apply first D151 or M06 and what is the differences between these 2 products. Do you recommend to use Gold Class Wax as LSP after these 2 products.

Re: One steps - All in ones

You would really only apply one or the other, not both.

But if you were going to do test spots, you would try M06 first.

Yes, Gold Class+ would be a fine wax to follow up with.

Re: One steps - All in ones

Mat is right here - there's no reason to use both M06 and D151 as they basically do the same thing, D151 is just more aggressive. And while you don't really need to top either with a dedicated wax because both of them contain wax, you certainly can top with any wax or sealant you like - Gold Class, NXT 2.0, Ultimate Wax, M26..........

                      Gentlemen,

                      Well done, clarification nearly complete.

What is chemical cleaning and / or non-abrasive correction?

                      Comments:
                      Thanks Greg, what I needed.
Murr, thanks. I live next to the Mississippi River I need to learn boats, just not this year.
Mike, your comments about M06 have piqued my interest. Cost wise 151 and 301 are cost effective. The versatility of 151 may rival versatility of Ultimate Polish (pick a pad, get a difference) and 301 meets or beats ColorX.

                      Decisions, decisions.

                      Thanks all.
