  • Another Quik Detailer question

I did a search and found a lot of good stuff but not exactly what I'm looking for.

How much Quik detailer do you use? In other words, how much area should one strong spray clean?

I just bought a Black NSX and I love the idea of the product but I almost think I'm using way too much product as it is leaving a bit of hazing behind.

    Help!

Most quick detailers work best with a very light misting of the product on the surface. A little goes a long way.

If you are getting streaking, chances are you are indeed putting down to much product. Try lightening up just a bit. Also, move you towel slowly when wiping the surface............. give the towel a chance to work.

Let us know how that turns out for you.

The performance of a quick detailer is directly related to the condition of the finish to start with. That is, a cleaned, polished well waxed finish will react to a quick detailer better than a neglected finish with bonded contaminants and no wax.

Since purchasing your NSX, have you done anything else to the finish besides applying a quick detailer?

Also, what you wipe the quick detailer off with is key as is working on a surface in the shade that is cool to the touch.

I have found both posts above true....

If I have not applied a wax for a couple months it seems the QD won't wipe down quite as nice but it still works well.

Less is better with a QD and change towels offten/fold them over.

Just had the car clayed, polished and waxed with "Meguiars" products. Meguiars is in quotes because I'm not 100% certain what products my detailer used.

To be honest, I haven't used the Meguiars Quik Detailer since then. My problems posted above were from previous to (Thurs.) when the car was detailed.

But now... since I live down at the ocean... my car is dusty again and I was about to use the product.

I have been using 100% terry cloth cotton towels. I haven't been able to find the Meguiars MF towels at either of the local Pep Boys i've tried.

All of your responses are greatly appreciated and I'll let you know the results tomorrow (now that the car has been detailed).

              CJAsis,
I know exactly where you are comming from. I quick detail my black car every day. If you would like microfiber towels, the best place to get them by us is at West Coat Motoring on PCH. It is on the right side as you are heading north just past the blockbuster. The guy who owns it is super nice and will take care of you. Ow ya, and he loves black nsx's.

Thanks Joe. I've wondered what that place is all about (we just moved to Dana Pt. from RSM a few months back so we're still learning the area). I appreciate the lead. Thus far, I've had terrible luck with Pep Boys.

stopped in to West Coast on Sat. and bought some of the MF towels. Great tip and great find... thanks.

Used the QD this afternoon and it went much better. I don't know if it's the MF towels or the recent detailing on the car but it's working good.

                  Thanks everyone.

Happy to hear you had a good experience there. The high quality towels will make a big difference. The rest is just fine tunning the amount of product you use. Having a freshly detailed car also make the wipe off much better.
Would love to see some pictures if you get the time.
