M205 + #9 + #7?

  • M205 + #9 + #7?

    Hello, I have been using M205, #9 Swirl Remover, and #7 Show Car Glaze followed by carnauba wax (not Meg's brand). Question here is; does it make sense that i am using #9 Swirl Remover in-between m205 and #7?

      To be honest that whole process doesn't do much except waste product, sorry just being honest. M205 is a finishing polish that has quite a bit of cutting power, therefore no need for swirl remover. Also since M205 is a polish, I don't think you would be achieving a better finish with #7 on top of it. You should be seeing maximum gloss with M205, then top it with your favorite wax or sealant.

      If you must use #7 I would use a compound such as M105 or UC before using #7. Remember M105 is pretty aggressive, I would try UC first to remove the swirls. M105 or UC will get rid of your swirls and create a perfect finish. Then you can "jewel" the finish with a pure polish such as #7, then apply your wax or sealant.

        Thanks, but to me it looked that #7 gave a bit more depth than after M205 only...
        I was just thinking to try compound with some aggressive. How about SwirlX in stead of UC? I think the swirls on my car are vary light so I want to start with lesser aggressive.

        And, on what occasion would I use #9?

          You are correct, #7 will give a bit more depth because it is a pure polish. Pure polishes have no abrasives and are high in oils. Something like UP or M205 are cleaner polishes, meaning they have some abrasives for correcting along with polishing oils.

          It is always a good idea to start less aggressive. Keep in mind that swirlX is more aggressive than M205. Also swirlX has polishing oils so there is no need to use #7 after swirlX. Here is a thread on the order of aggressiveness......http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...t-surprise-you!

            Thank you! I got both UC and SwirlX. I will use UC with hand application for small, tight area where a machine cannot work on, then swirlX with DA machine on flat areas.

              Sounds good. Something to keep in mind.....UC is a compound and will strip the old polish and wax off the vehicle. In the areas you use this product you will want to use a polish afterward. Swirlx is a polish as well so maybe try those areas first before using UC. Swirlx is less aggressive and may correct those swirls without the need for a compound. When using UC you should use a three step process, UC, polish, then wax. With swirlx it is only a two step process, Sirlx then wax. Good luck!
