  • W68DA... 2 versions?

Hi. Are there two versions of the W68DA backing plate that are labeled for use with 7" soft buff 2.0 pads? I purchased a W68DA and after opening the package I am now starting to think this one may be an old version. I have posted pictures below of the front and back of the one I just got to help determine what I have. I hope you can help. Also this may be a dumb question, but can the W-64 "rotary buffer" backing plate be used on random orbitals? I was sent this item by mistake and if it's for rotary use only I have no use for it. I would like to sell it. Thanks!!!

Your W68DA looks just like the one that came with my G110v2 so i would say it's the current one and not an older version. As far as your other backing plate for the rotary, i don't see why it wouldn't work as long as the pads fit, just don't use wool pads on a DA, use foam pads and it should be ok. Good Luck!

The rotary backing plate will not fit the D/A backing plate. They are mutually exclusive. The D/A backing plate has a male adaptor while the rotary backing plate has a female adaptor.

The W68DA has 2 versions indeed. I have both of them. The one you have is their latest and greatest backing plate. The older version doesn't have the darker/shinier (CF like material) in the middle. The whole top part is covered with the rubberized material found on the outer edge of the new BP shown above.

Here's the best picture I can find that shows the older W68DA backing plate:

Looks like you have the latest plate. I guess mine is the old version as I dont have the extra reinforcement plate. I got my plate over 2 years ago.
