  • Replacing my freeze-damaged products

Ok, so I'm about to place an order to replace all the liquified products I lost to the freezing temps in my garage over the winter.

Among the casualties were two bottles of #9 Swirl Remover. I'd replace them with the same thing, but upon reflection I found #9 a bit mild for a few of the jobs I bought it for. I really need something to get light water marks off, not swirls.

As such, I'm considering replacing that with one of the following, but I can't decide which.
    - Meg's 205 Ultra Finishing Polish.
    - Meg's Ultimate Polish

I know where 205 falls relative to #9, but I don't know where UP falls relatiive to them. I'll be using it with a rotary and probably a Soft Buff 2.0 yellow pad.

Also, I'll be needing new Wash soon, and I've noticed NXT wash isn't listed anymore. What's the current best wash solution.

And finally, I've been using NXT Tech Protectant on the black plastic/rubber pieces on the car, and I've noticed it's no longer listed on the website. I'm assuming that "Natural Shine" is the replacement for NXT TP, correct?

    Thanks!

Well, Ult. Polish would be mildest of all. SwirlX probably strongest, but then not really for rotary use.

Best is hard to say.. I like #62, Gold Class is always good. The UW&W is good is you only want a quick wash.

And finally, I've been using NXT Tech Protectant on the black plastic/rubber pieces on the car, and I've noticed it's no longer listed on the website. I'm assuming that "Natural Shine" is the replacement for NXT TP, correct?
Well, the Nxt Protectant was quite glossy, and meant for interior use.

The Natural Shine will be a more matte product meant for interior use, and Supreme Shine a glossier product for interior use.

Since you mention black plastic bits, I ma thinking you might be wanting more of an exterior product? You would want the Ult. Black/Ult. Protectant for the exterior. It can be used interior also if wanted. It is somewhere in the middle for gloss.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably order a bottle of 205 and a bottle of UP (for the new car).

      That puts me at:

      1 gal #205
      1 bottle UP
1 gal #34 Final Inspection (I ADORE this stuff)
1 W68 backing plate for my rotary
      1 W63 3" backing plate
2 Soft Buff 2.0 yellow pads
2 Soft Buff 2.0 black pads
      2 4" yellow pads (for the W63)

I think that should set me up for the summer

there a few things to consider, will you work them hand, RB, or DA?
for hand and DA i suggest you UP, UC

but if you are planning to use RB then ill go for a m205-m105 combo and the wax of your preference syntethic or natural or a mix.

The 205 is for my rotary (to get rid of the water stains on my roof) and the UP is for hand polishing my wife's new car (and also my roof, once the spots are gone).

If I were in your position I'd opt for just the M205 and forgo the UP for now. UP and M205 are closely related however M205 is rotary, DA and hand application recommended. M205 does wonders with a rotary and you can really adjust it's level of cut or polishing ability quite a bit with just a simple switch from your polishing pad to your finishing pad.

In my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to refine a surface any better than with M205. And in the end it means you save a few dollars just buying one product that can handle both tasks.
