I just bought this truck and removed my side bumpers. I used an eraser wheel and goo gone to remove the adhesive. The project was successful but left some residual line that is slightly noticeable. The line is on the surface and looks like it may buff out easily. But there are other minor scratches that need attention. This vehicle is black and shows everything. I want to correct these flaws on the vehicle. Does anybody know what I can do? I have scratch x but I can't use that on the whole truck right? I used UC a week ago by hand and no critical results were noticed. Can anyone give great advice on tackling this project???

Re: 2011 GMC Yukon project
Try WD-40
edit: I've also used Kerosene on a black truck with tar everywhere, it left zero negative effects. Just be gentle with amount and pressure applied. My automotive related blog! http://hereishowiviewthings.blogspot.com/

Re: 2011 GMC Yukon project
Do you have the 4inch pads? You can try the 4inch yellow pad with UC and see where that gets you. If that dosent work then you might need to do some minor wetsanding...Practice doesn't make perfect, the dedication to achieve perfection makes perfect. "Smack"

Re: 2011 GMC Yukon project
If those are below the surface meaning you can stick your finger down in them then it might be out of your hands. you might want to look into a bodyshop for repair unless you have the skills/tools necessary to repair yourself.Practice doesn't make perfect, the dedication to achieve perfection makes perfect. Re: 2011 GMC Yukon project
I have a 09 Denali and I too removes the side moldings on the truck with a heat gun time and patience. To get all the glue off we used a prepsol to remove any remaining glue. I then followed with a clay bar then M105 with a yellow polishing pad followed by M205 and my results were great. Like it was said before some of those seem to be below the surface scratches.

Re: 2011 GMC Yukon project
I used 20 lb test fishing line and they came write off. I should of took pics it was fine no marring or anything like that. I used an erser wheel to remove the thick adhesive strip and everything that was left over I used the Goo Gone and worked great!!! The eraser wheel works great and the Goo Gone compliments the job as well. It didn't take but an hour to complete all 4 moldings and clean up. Those scatches came from a motorcycle failing to stop in its own lane LOL. They were done by his handle bars.
