Foam Applicator Pads!

I think I am just realizing what caused the bad swirls, holagrams, and scrathes using the ultimate compound, and that was the use of a cotten terry pad.

Please use me as an example. Beginner mistake. No Bueno! I knew I could tell that the cotten terry pad was just "GRABBING" too much.

In an emergency situation, are there any stores that sell any decent Foam Applicator pads, or can I only find then online?

The bad thing was, that because I saw the holagrams and light scrathes and swirls, I only pressed all the harder down to really wipe them out.

I hope I can still somehow fix it.

Maybe if can't find Foam applicator pads, Would Microfiber applicator pads work ok for ultimate compound and polish?

I will admit, finding foam pads 'at the store' is getting harder and harder. All I can suggest is to grab the phone book and just start calling various auto parts store, especially those that deal in paint product. I wouldn't worry too much about brand name.

This has happened to all of us at one time, Even if we won't admit to it. Using a fabric pad vs a foam pad is much like what happens when you use a 'more aggressive' foam pad on a DA (or similar).

I can never find them local so when I order online I order a few cases. A place like Auto Detailing Solutions has a case of (6) 2 packs for $9.95.

I just got two dozen foam pads I ordered off ebay for $2.15 a dozen shipped. They are not as nice as Meguiar's ones but I got them more for trim dressing etc than for use on paint. I'll have to try one on paint and see if they work for that.

Btw, I use foam paint brushes for tire dressings....theres a local tool shop that sells a 50 pack for $5, 3 different sizes (1" 2" & 3" in width)
