  • Bad day with UC!

I don't know what I did wrong. Last time I used used Ultimate Compound it did a great Job on minimizing swirls, holegrams, and light scratch marks. But I went to use it today and it only Created more holegrams, swirl marks and light scrathes. I was confused and now wore out after doing it all.

It was a cloudy overcast day, around 80 degrees, with a cooling wind. I Completely washed, dried, and very lightly clayed my car cause it doesn't need it at this time. Then used the UC.

I'm a little upset because I spent all that time and effort to only create more undesirables and more work for the next time I want to get to waxing.

Can you give us more information on your technique? Also, was the pad absolutely clean? What color is the car? I know one time I was using UC on my headlights and the pad accidentally touched the paint and left a small scratch.

Also, you will be able to get rid of the swirls and light scratches you made by using UC again.

Hi this is my first post. I am semi new to detailing and i have some experience similiar to this 1 before. According to what you mentioned, I assume that you used too much product and not buffing long enough. The hologram you saw wasnt the real hologram created by rotary. Instead it is polishing oil you left behind. Either ipa or a wash can remove it. I am definitly no expert. Just sharing what I have experienced before

          Howdy Guys,

Yep I used it on the same exact car, my own 1996 civic. It is a dark forest green. So it shows it alot. It just felt like it was "GRABBING" more today.

I think there might have been a problem because of the APPLICATOR I was using. A white cotten terry foam applicator pad from auto zone.

Terry cloth applicators are probably not a good choice for UC. I would use a microfiber applicator or ideally one of the yellow foam applicators.

There is nothing wrong with the product. Just the way I applied it was wrong. I'm sorry for hating you ultimate compound. I love u again. I will never loose faith in u again.

You didn't let it dry before the wipe off did you?
