  • When to wax again?

I did the 5-step detailing 3-4 weeks ago; Wash - Clay - UC - UW -UW.

I was about the wash and wax earlier today. When I washed, I could see that the water beaded nicely on the horizontal surface. On the vertical surface, I could see the water was sliding off quickly. This showed me that the wax is still holding up nicely. Now I am debating should I wax now or wait a few weeks.

Many of us here in this forum wash and wax often. Would you wax? Or maybe UQW?

I spray wax roughly once a week and also paste wax, Mmm, id say once a month. Some people only do it every 3 months and such.

As long as you're spray waxing on a regular basis, your base coat of wax will last a bit longer. Still, I don't think id go over two months without an actual paste/liquid wax.

So yeah, to answer your question, I would paste/liquid wax.

      Re: When to wax again?

The car looks great, feel smooth, water sliding off.
If I wax now, am I wasting products? Also, I am not sure if waxing now will improve the shine.

I would give a light mist of UQW while drying at least.

I'm in same boat here. I was thinking of using "Meguiars Ultimate Wash and Wax" in between waxings instead of spraying on Ultimate quick Wax every so often... Have not tried this yet. Still evaluating

Like murr said, at least spray wax it. You will not be wasting product.

Does your finger squeak when you rub it on the paint? I heard that's the best way to tell if wax is present or not (squeak means you need to wax for sure). My truck beads water even after claying and doing a thorough buff job of Ultimate Compound.

Apply UQW while drying? I usually dry the car completely before applying UQW.

I waxed only 3 weeks ago. On top of the beading, I could see that the water was sliding off quickly. I am sure there is still a lot of wax left on the car.

                  Sure.

I usually do a quick wipe to dry most water, then a final wipe + UQW to finish it off.

Why let the wax all wear off before adding a bit more.

Could you use UWWA or is UQW a better option?
