  • Washing Car after Final wax?

I've heard from a few family members that the wax job looks alot better after they wash it, and I know that isn't so much in a bad way, since I make sure I do a great job buffing after. I'm not going to say I'm not doing anything wrong, because there could certaintly be a possibility of that.

But..... Is there anything to that?

Does a Just waxed car look better after it's first wash? And if so, does anyone actually wash the car before showing thier customer?

I wouldnt want to wash right away, best to let the wax set up as long as possible before getting wet.

What murr said. Also, washing right after waxing would be the LAST thing on my mind. After all that work, just to get everything wet again and have to dry everything and blow never ending water out of cracks and stuff... Screw that!

Don't wash after waxing, wait til its dirty!

I "ll wait about a week then wash it. Give the wax some time to bake in :-)

          ChevyNick,

If i could have said what was going on in my mind, while I thought about washing it again. It would have been exatly what you said!
Thanks guys, that really clears it up for me. You Rock! And murr thankyou, as always, for your advice.

I think it's probably more perception as when you are waxing a clean car you are going from 90% clean to say 98% (or 100% depending on how much of a detail you do) clean, so it's only incrementally more clean. While when you do a first wash it gets back to say 40% then goes to 95%, so it seems more dramatic, but really isn't. Maybe that's what they are thinking.
