  • Question on 20/21 over DG 501

I've picked up some DG 501 for my white Jetta. I think spring and fall are a good time to deep clean the paint. I am planning on using either #20 or 21 after the DG 501. I know 501 lays down some polymer, but I am thinking it should not be a big problem, especially for 20, as it has some light cleaners.

    Can someone confirm/deny/help here?

    Thanks!

Re: Question on 20/21 over DG 501

If you're going to use DG501 then yes, it does offer some protection and you don't really need to apply anything over it. If you want to top so in an attempt to increase the level of protection then go with M21 as the cleaners in M20, light though they are, will likely remove at least some of what you left behind with DG501. That would be sort of one step forward and half a step back, so what would be the point? Stick with M21.

By the way, DG501 is really designed for gel coats - why are you using it rather than something else on your paint?

Michael...thanks. I've talked to DG and also seen experiences with others that DG501 works very well on paint as well. Great cleaner.

Thanks again, this all makes sense and is in line with what I have been thinking.

The best way I can describe DG501 is a very good chemical cleaner (one of the best I have seen) with little to no abrasives. It then leaves behind protection that lasts 3-5 months on its own, but can be topped with DG 111, 101, or 105 which will all add impressive protection.

To be honest, the only thing that comes close to this that I have seen for Meg's is M66, and it has DAT abrasives and I'm not sure about the level of protection.
