  • Endurance Tire Gel

I have been using the Endurance low gloss tire gel and was going to get some more and I don't see it anymore. Has it been discontinued?

Also, I see there is an aerosol Endurance now. I've always used the bottle and applied it with a tire swipe. Is there any advantage to using the aerosol can? What does everyone prefer?

    Re: Endurance Tire Gel

I have been using the Endurance Tire Gel for a couple of years now, and I have allways been able to find it at Walmart. As for the aerosol it is really up to you, but from what I have found, it does not last as long. My method for applying the dressing is to clean the tire thoroughly, and then dry it completely. After that I apply 2 light coats of the gel over the course of about 30 min. In doing so I get the gloss effect I am looking for.

I have tried the aerosol and there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
-If you are not applying in a closed environment i.e. a garage you will get over spray on the paint no matter what you do. You cannot control the wind
-If you spray the aerosol to close to the tire, the product will build up in all of the channels and groves of the rubber, and will run into the rim and splash on the paint if not dried
-If you do not let the aerosol dry for a long enough period of time it will splatter all over the paint at a any speed above 5mph (my experience)

Things I like about the aerosol
-Easy to apply. If I know that I will not be using the vehicle for at least a couple of hours, then I will use the aerosol because it is quicker to apply
-You can take a microfiber and "wipe" away the excess spray so that you avoid the overspray issue.
-The result is very similar to the Endurance gel, although I find the gel to have more longevity, but that is just the nature of a gel versus aerosol

In the end it is really up to you, I personally prefer the gel. In my experience it lasts longer, and for my needs, works better. I love to be able to use a tire swipe and cover every last centimeter of the tire, but then again detailing as Mike Phillips would say "is your therapy".

      Re: Endurance Tire Gel

I can find the black and purple high gloss endurance, but there used to be a black and red/orange endurance that was low gloss and I don't see it listed anywhere anymore. Guess I'll have to try the high gloss and see what it looks like.

Just use a thin coat, and then immediately wipe the tire with a microfiber to reduce the gloss. That should give you a "close to matte" black finish without as much gloss.
