  • Difference in interior products

I've been using the M40 for quite a while which I am happy with. I was just wondering if some of the other products were any better or last longer. I like how the M40 doesn't have a high gloss shine. Two other products I was looking at are the Ultimate Protectant and Natural Shine.

1st....Which one of the three is suppose to last the longest?
2nd...What's the order in shine from highest to lowest?
3rd...Does Natural Shine and Ult. Protectant have cleaners in them like the M40?

Also what's the difference between M39 and Quik Interior Detailer?

    1. Ult. Protectant.

    2. Hard to say... probably Ult., M40, Natural Shine, but can depend on the material.

    3. No, no cleaners.

M39 is a strong cleaner. QID is a mild cleaner/duster, and leaves some UV protection.

Ultimate Protectant will be the longest lasting of the three, with Natural Shine and M40 close enough to call it even. UP will give a bit more gloss than NS, and M40 should have the least gloss of all. But the gloss level of both NS and M40 can be knocked down even further by giving a second wipe with a clean, dry towel. Neither UP nor NS have cleaners in them like M40 does, however.

M39 is a fairly potent cleaner designed specifically for vinyl and plastics. QID is a light cleaner that is safe for all interior surfaces, including items as delicate as navigation screens, instrument clusters, etc. It also leaves some very nice UV protection that M39 does not have.

Does one give better protection than the other, besides lasting longer?

I've been giving the M40 a second wipe after I applied it but always wondered how long I should wait after applying it before I wipe it off. Does it matter how long I wait?

I used M40 before switching to UP.

I myself do not like any shine and prefer a matte clean finish. M40 is great in this aspect with a 2nd wipe down. However, they are not so good when wet. I applied M40 to the interior door trim and raindrops would cause it to streak.

UP has too much shine but it does not streak. So, I have been using UP for the past year. UP is so water-proof that I even apply it to the windshield cowl.

All will provide a high level of UV protection, but since UP will last longer that means the protection will be there longer.

We would suggest applying M40 to an applicator of some sort, maybe even a folded microfiber towel, and wipe it onto the surface and allow it to dry. Once dry, if you feel it's too glossy for your taste, then give it a secondary wipe to knock down the gloss. But applying it lightly to begin with will promote faster drying, and prevent much of a gloss gain in the fist place. As always, a little bit goes a long way.
