Need some advice...

So, it has finaly been warm out enough to wash my truck the way i want to wash it. So as i was washing i realized that since i parked under a tree all winter i have all these little bloches and what looks like little dots of CC faulture, but its only on the side the tree was on.

So i broke out the good old body scrub....nothing, then i spend about 2 hours on the passenger side doors only with some DACP, and swirl free polish. IT looks 99% better but i still have some blots. Oh yah and i clayed. What should i do about it? If it dosnt rain today ill take some pics for yah.


Also i hit a deer this winter and i had a cheap *** body shop do the work, since my dad said that is all he is going to pay for. So i ended up with them not repainting my doors like they said they would but just buffing the **** out of them so bad that tehy etched the paint. ill try to get some pic's to let you know what i am talking about. But what can i do about that? And they left more swirl marks on what they touched than were on all three of our family vehicles.

What to do? I spent about 2 hours when i got it back just on the front quarter panel trying to get the swrils out, but looks alright, but it needs more work. I used DACP and Swirl free polish, and swirl remover and scrach x. What else can i do?

You may need to apply those products with a rotary buffer. I assume you are using a PC to apply the products now.

If you are not experienced with a rotary, you should look for a pro to do it for you otherwise you could be creating more problems for yourself.

Pictures would help a lot. Post when you get them and you will probably get lots of answers to your questions!

It's hard to believe that in the year 2005 with all the quality products available, and all the training and education available, that a body shop would do butcher your car, or anyone's car. But it happens everyday as everyone at this last weekends detailing class learned.

Oh i only wish that my truck looked like that becuase then i would be able to fix it. It is raining out right now pretty hard so it will be a few days before pictures are availible.

I took it back to them and they said "oh yah bring it and we will fix it." and im thinking to my self, for one they charged me for repainting the doors, and they did not because there were still paint chips in the a pillar and a big scrach at the top of the door from when i went offroading last season. So obviously they did not repaint it. I guess i am just scared to take it back to them. I talked to the body shop i ususally take it to and they said that they can repaint it for me.

How are you applying the above products?

Im using the meg's cordless pc.

That's some weird looking damage. Almost looks like sanding marks.




This one looks like some sort of abrasion and pretty deep too.




What are you trying to accomplish here? Trying to remove the above defects will be futile with any thing other that more wet sanding and a rotary. I'm just guessing. It looks like the sanding marks would need a finer sand paper then buff to remove the finer sand marks. I'm not too sure though. This might be best left for a different body shop to fix.

Those are not buffing marks, they are sanding marks in the underlying body filler. To be repaired, the area needs to be completely sanded down, another (proper) application of spot putty, then repainted.

Hey,

Based on the pictures, like the others mentioned above, those appear to be sanding marks in the body filler. I do not believe wet sanding and buffing it out with a rotary buffer will help. The marks appear to be just too deep. I would take it back and have them fix it properly.

I would agree with scrub, Don and Tim, those defects are in the prep work before applying the paint. If this is the results of their painting work, I'm sorry to inform you that the correct repair would be to do it over again.
