  • Which to use DACP or #9 Swirl Remover 2.0

Hi all: I'm going to help a fellow Mustanger here in KC with a Black Mach 1. He saw my DSG Mach at the recent World of Wheels and asked about my finish.

He has some very light swirls on the Mach (not everywhere, but 3 or 4 noticeable places).

I've used DACP + 8006 pads with great success, but haven't tried #9 Swirl Remover 2.0. yet. I'm thinking of least aggressive to start and check results.

What are some of you getting with #9?

    Thanks for any help.

You can always try #9 first, but to be honest it's swirl removing ability is rather minimal (by PC at least). If you have some 80, you should give that a try, and only move to 83 if it is absolutely necessary.

Just to build on travisdecpn said, I've found #9 to be a bit on the weak side removing swirls. If you don't have #80 readily available (which is my new #1 go to swirl remover) then you could try the #9 and make 2 or 3 passes on a test area. I'd also recommend to remove the TS oils to better see the work accomplished by the diminishing abrasives (alcohol and water 50/50 mix).

If the test area is not where you want it then move up to #83. If you do experience hazing from #83 the step back down to the #9 to remove. This may also take a few passes.

Good luck and don't forget the pics!

Thanks for the response: I think I'll get a bottle of #80 and try that. I've use #83 countless times with excellent results, but this person's Mach is pretty good except for 3-4 small swirl areas (and we all know how owners of black cars are...LOL)
