  • Sand paper pads/Headlights

Howdy everyone. I just finished using the Megs Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit on my 96 civic headlights. They were totally yellow and hazed. The Kit did a miracle on them and now they are "like new" Crystal Clear. It's awesome.

My question is..... How long do those sand paper pads last? And does Megs sell them alone at all. Because I know I'm going to be using these products alot more on cars. Thankyou always for your suggestions and advice!

I have used the same sanding discs on three different sets of headlights. I figure I can get another pair or two out of them. Auto Detailing Solutions sells the discs individually and in 25/pks.

How long they last will sort of depend on how bad the lenses were and, therefore, how long you needed to sand with them. The finer the grit, the longer they tend to last. As an example, we offer these as coarse as 320 grit for dry sanding, and those often get eaten up completely on a single lens. The 3000 grit finishing discs can often hold up through half a dozen lenses. As JW points out, you can indeed buy packs of the various Unigrit Sanding and Finishing discs from ADS and other large online detailing sources.

And let me add that the small wool pad that attaches to a drill is an amazing tool!!

Hey guys, thanks alot for the info and recommendations. I'm definitely gonna pick up some pads. It's funny, it's really like a magic trick with the headlights. At the beginning i'm like no way dude, those headlights can never be saved, then presto they're clear.

I was actually doing this process outside my local AutoZone and 2 different people stopped by and asked if it worked and I wasn't done yet, so they were actually there to witness the results. It was awesome to see there reactions.
