If I applied M205 with the soft finishing pad W9207, is any cut would be introduced to the paint or just high gloss clean looking.

Re: M205 Ultra Finishing Polish/W9207
If need be stup up to M105 on W8207 and it should knock out the sanding marks. It also depends on what tool you are using.Practice doesn't make perfect, the dedication to achieve perfection makes perfect. "Smack"

Theoretical sanding grits aside, what are you actually looking to accomplish, what are you working on?Michael Stoops

Re: M205 Ultra Finishing Polish/W9207
I'm working on black BMW-5 series 2008 (which I think it's soft paint)!. The goals are:
1- Get rid off very minor swirls (you can say they are not noticed)
2- Add gloss and show the beauty of the black color.
The steps I would like to follow and seeking advice are:
1- Clean and wash
2-M205/w9207 to avoid cutting as possible
2- M7/W9207 (this is a question for me; may its redundant!)
3- Gold class liquid/W9207 (to darken the paint)
4- Ultimate wax liquid/w9207 ( for protection)

Re: M205 Ultra Finishing Polish/W9207
What makes you say the paint on your 5 is soft? Have you actually done any work on it before? We see BMW paint all over the map, from very soft to insanely hard, so until you start working on it you really don't know for sure. Take a look at this thread to see what can happen when a paint doesn't respond the way you think it will.
It's great that you have a plan, but like we said, until you actually start working on a car you don't know how the paint will respond so you don't know if your plan is actually the right one for the car. If you rely too heavily on a plan up front, you can get frustrated when it ends up be insufficient for the task. So, with what you've outlined, there's nothing really wrong with your steps but we can't say for sure if it's the right process or not. It is quite mild, that much we can say for sure. Your suspicion that M7 is redundant following M205 is correct; you probably don't need to do that since M205 will do wonders for the gloss and clarity of the paint on its own - it's great stuff! Also, we'd probably reverse your steps 3 & 4, applying the Gold Class on top of the Ultimate Wax if you're going to do both (but you don't need both).Michael Stoops

Re: M205 Ultra Finishing Polish/W9207
Hi Mike,
The reason I said it soft paint (from my perspective), it was very easy you induce minor swirls when you buffing the car, for example, during wash or buffing wax. Of course you can disagree with me and I like to know your inputs and advice to what I said. Secondly, I agree with you my plan is quite mild not aggressive at all. Third, the reason I was palning to apply Gold Class liquid and top it with Ultimate liquid wax is to add darken and gloss to the paint. Please advice and thanks much.

As for the Gold Class and Ultimate Wax, we'd still suggest applying the Ultimate first and GC on top of it - you'll gain the final look of the GC while having the extra layer of protection offered by the Ultimate right on top of the paint.Michael Stoops

Re: M205 Ultra Finishing Polish/W9207
To answer your question, if my formulated plan didn't work as I wish, I'll step up to more aggressive process. For example, I'm thinking to use M205/W8207 on small area (2x2) and examine the result. If this didn't work I'll increase aggressive process, as required, by using higher cutting pads/ or products. Thanks.
