when caring for a tanneau cover, what would be a good thing to use? i have the tire and trim gel in the detailer line (D16332) and natural shine protectant that i'm thinking of using. are either a good idea or is there something better as far as uv protection and overall looks? also, when using something like ult compound or something abrasive would you want to tape off any chrome emblems so as not to give them a "brushed" look or is it generally not a concern. i would lean on the better safe than sorry side, but other input from more experienced people is always welcome.

Re: a couple more questions
For a tonneau, you'd want more of a dressing than a tire shine. However, the Natural Shine is an interior product, and wont be very durable. The Ult. Protectant would be better.
If working by hand, I can tend to work around them easily enough. If using a machine, you may want to.
Although the UC, SwirlX, etc wont usually damage much. More of the pad rubbing against the finish might wear it down.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: a couple more questions
For the tonneau cover stick with either Ultimate Protectant/Black or D163 Tire and Trim Gel (great stuff!). You shouldn't have to worry about taping off chrome trim when applying a paint cleaner, even with a DA buffer, unless you have worries of product building up around the edges that would then need to be cleaned out. As for actually getting the paint cleaner onto the chrome; odds are it will clean it up and make it a bit shinier rather than cause any damage.Michael Stoops
