I am looking to do just a little bit of freshening up on our sacrificial lamb winter beater car which is a 2001 Dodge Neon with ~125,000 miles on it. The swirls are very bad, it has never been polished in its life and has spent a grand total of 3 nights in the garage since we purchased it a little over a year ago. I am not expecting nor willing to put the effort in for a full 5 step correction on this car. I do have 2 small bottles of cleaner wax from the clay kits I purchased prior. I do plan on washing and claying prior to doing this and will apply all of these with a DA, but I have never used cleaner wax before and have a few questions:
1.) How is the application different compared to a NXT or GCC+? Do you just apply with a little more passion, let it haze, and wipe off?
2.) If I want to get just a little more correction, could I use a yellow polishing pad instead of a black finishing pad?
I do plan to follow this up with a coat of ULW for added protection.
I'm thinking of doing this as a little 3-part write up to be a good example of "different products for different people" approach... I've got this vehicle, my wife's truck and my toy car and thinking of doing 3 different processes and showing the results...
