My wife just purchased a 2003 Ford Expedition. It's red, but it appears the paint has faded. There is no clear coat damage thankfully. One section, near the bottom of this image, has been repainted, and is a deeper darker red than the rest of the truck. The doorjambs also match that. I've been thinking of buying Meg's Paint Restoration Kit, and claying the paint and using Ultimate Compound. I know this isn't the best pic to show what I'm talking about, but the differences are more apparent seeing it in person. It really does look "faded" compared to the doorjambs and the repainted area. So, does paint actually "fade" or is this a case of the clear coat just oxidizing? Again, no clear coat damage at all, it just looks to be a different shade of red due to sun exposure. Would claying and Ultimate Compound bring some of the color back? All I had on had was Color X (which I love) but it didn't make any difference when I tried it. A few years ago I used Ultimate Compound on my old Toyota 4x4 and was amazed at the results. But that was a single stage paint, unlike this one. [IMG]
