  • pure polish on clear coat

I have been applying M07 by hand on my black Tahoe and like it very much. I understand that M07 was originally made for single coat paint in which it could help dry defected paint which makes sense. So on a clear coat does M07 help in keeping my paint from going dry or does a clear coat not dry out? On a clear coat is the only purpose of a pure polish is that is makes the paint look better; like it doesn't really add to the paints longevity? And is there a pure polish recommended for clear coats? thanks

New clear coat wont absorb as much as older paint (CC or BC), but never hurts. As the paint ages, it can absorb more.

As for as the polish, #7 is good for everything. The only other one of note would be Ult. Polish if you werent doing any cleaning step first.

I may just buy a bottle of #7 and try it. Is it hand only application? I'll have to see if I notice any difference from Ultimate Polish. Something is telling me I probably won't.

#7 is ok with a DA, though sometimes by hand is just as easy.

        Probably not a big difference.

It can be used on clear coats, but single stage paint benefits the most from M07. But definitely no harm in using it on clear coat. It will still make paint better anyway. Recommended even on clear coats especially blacks and warm colors, optional on lighter colors.

I noticed with M07 in the time I used it (different colors, light and dark) is that it enhances whatever dominant aspect of what a particular paint/color it has. On dark paint, it makes it deeper/richer. On metallics (yes, silver and something similar to it) m07 brought out the fmetallic flakes even more. Durability, i haven't noticed any negative effects, but a newly show car glazed finish does feel a bit oily/tacky, feels as if its ready to be waxed. That tells me that it helps in the wax's ability to stick to the paint even better than a non glazed paint.
