  • Did I use too much......

Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere? I used half a bottle on my F150. Also is this stuff safe on plastic trim? I probably should have asked before using it. It got dark on me so it's hard to see the results until the morning. If I can only get 2 good washes with this stuff then I have to look for other options, maybe ONR. I wash my truck every week, $15 a bottle will break my wallet eventually. Also should I follow up with the UQW? Or does the UW&W have enough wax in it?

    Thanks!

Half a bottle is likely a bit much. It varies based on how filthy the vehicle is and how solid your base coat of protection is. If a vehicle is well waxed then it should shed dirt easier, meaning you use less product.

Yes it is safe on plastic and rubber trim.

As for alternatives, UWWA is not meant to be comparable to ONR, but Meguiar's has another new product that is - Rinse Free Express Wash. It is bought by the gallon and diluted similarly to ONR, and some ongoing testing is suggesting it can be diluted even further without losing effectiveness.

Most seem to prefer it to ONR in terms of its performance, too.

As for following up with wax, it is really up to you. Feel the surface - if it feels slick enough stick with just UWWA - if not, a quick coat of UQW or UQD will only help.

Yeah it started to get dark and I couldn't see the dirt so I probably used too much product. Probably wouldn't hurt to use apply some UQW for added protection. Do you think this stuff is safe for factory coated wheels?

          A couple of thoughts here:

Yes, it sounds as though you may have used more product than you needed, but then again an F150 is a pretty large vehicle so you'll use more on that than you would on a Miata, for example. Yes, $15/bottle for just a couple of washes might be a bit on the pricey side, but it's half what you would spend if you went to a quality drive through car wash every week (yes, good car washes do exist, but they usually cost close to $15 for their "basic" wash and go up from there).

Judging from your avatar it looks like you've got the ability to wash with a bucket and hose any time you feel like, so UWWA may not be the best product choice for you for routine washingy Our Rinse Free Express Wash is likely a better choice for you if you're looking for a way to reduce your water consumption when washing. One ounce to two gallons of water is all you need unless the vehicle is extremely dirty, in which case you should up the dilution to one ounce per gallon. Follow that up with D156 Synthetic Express Spray Wax and you'll be good to go. D156 is an extremely durable polymer, and not just for a spray product!
