I am convinced my Costco purchased MF towel are a part of the cause of my light swirls so I purchased two water magnet towels. They seem very rough textured to me, much more so than the MF I was using. Even after running through the wash. Is this what everyone/majority is using to dry?

Re: The preferred drying product....Water Magnet?
+1 for water magnet drying towels although I've also had good results with some no name "waffle-iron" texture drying towels.
BTW - curious to know why you believe the Costco MF towels are the cause of your light swirls?Andy W.

Absorber chamois, waffle-weave Water Magnets, leaf-blower.
In my limited experience, some brands of microfibers will mar any car's finish and some cars are marred by any microfibers. Try stacking two on top of each other. Each folded into quarter. (Fold in half twice)

Since your car is 2 weeks old, maybe the swirls were already there when you picked up the car - the DISO (dealer installed swirl option)?
FWIW - I find waffle-weave drying towels are much better at absorbing water than regular MF "detailing" towels. With water magnet towels, I don't need to apply any pressure when drying a car.Andy W.

Re: The preferred drying product....Water Magnet?
Most new cars do come with DISO....my 2011 Impreza came with some....looking forward to making them disappear this spring.
I tend to use my electric leaf blower then my water magnets on any water the blower couldn't remove.
I figure if I can minimize any physical contact with my paint, it will minimize swirls and maybe help the wax last a bit longer?"STRIFE" aka Phil

I can guarntee you have the DISO. I went to the auto show the other week and almost every car there had swirls and minor scratches. You really only need to drag the water magnet over the surface with only its own weight. It does a great job, and will work even better once you can get some tech wax on there which makes the sheeting rinse remove most of the water.

I have been using Meg's 'Water Magnets' and am completely happy with the results. The rough texture you speak of is because of the 'Waffle weave' used in these towels. The weave allows for higher water absorption.
I use two towels: the first to remove excess water, and the second to finish dry. Then I use my shop vac in blower mode to blow out left-over water in all the cracks and crevices.
There are no retail stores in my area that carry this product so I ordered mine through Amazon. Amazon is the best thing since the invention of sliced bread, ice cream and pizza. In that order. LOL
