  • which wax

Hi I bought a black fusion in September trying to find the best wax to use on it I've used Meguiars for years now I tried turtle wax black box it works pretty good but is REALLY NASTY and drawn out what's the best wax Meguiars has for black cars?

Word is Ultimate Wax does a real nice job on black. Keep in mind polish plays a huge factor in making the paint look deep, glossy, etc... May want to use Ultimate Polish then Ultimate Wax for the deepest, clearest look possible

      Re: which wax

2nd the Ultimate wax, plus nice durability. GC + is nice too, but won't last as long.

        Re: which wax

Prep work is important... claying, clean/polish.. then a good wax.

          Re: which wax

Its kinda like asking everyone at the bar what their favorite beer is

          some people like different beers
there are different beers for different price ranges
some have certain things that other ones dont

          the same applies to waxes/sealants

I would suggest starting with something like Ultimate Wax

I have a dark gray 2010 fusion and I used M83, M09, M26 when I first got it. Really made it look deep and wet. With good washing technique and M26 every 4 months or so (clay when needed), it still looks great.

                    Re: which wax

As Murr said above...PREP is the secret.

The final 'wax' main job is to protect the finish. Yes, there is some gloss enhancement, but think protection first. The 'wax' is just the frosting on the cake.

I know that but its hard with pollen so thick I'll wash it and by the time I'm dry it and ready to start its covered again and I don't have a garage or enclosed carport

                        Re: which wax

I have had problems with dirt and pollen as I live on top of a windy hill, and the local bees seem to take a liking to my meguiars products.
Occasionally, I will pack up what I will need, then go to one of those semi enclosed manual car washes that have the power washer.

Try and find one that is lower in humidity, this allows wax to dry more quickly. If you want to clean and polish, then the higher humidity gives you a longer working time.

                        Also...
Another +1 for ultimate liquid wax.

                          Re: which wax

To your earlier post about pollen: I lived in NC for 20 years so I know what kind of pollen you are talking about. Clouds of the stuff on a good windy day, coating everything and anything that is left outside. Short of keeping it in a garage or under a car cover/tarp I doubt that without constant washing you could keep the pollen off of it. You can ease your frustrations by listening everyone's input of good prep work and steady wash and wax schedule. The better the prep, the easier it will be to remove. Some days the car will look almost yellow or green from pollen; your patience will be tried not to touch it until your next chance to wash ... and I'm sure frustration will abound. Just keep a level head and proper technique and it will not guide you wrong.

As for best wax for black, I am partial to Ultimate Paste Wax after an round of Ultimate Polish.
