  • DA MF System and D301, swirl removal?

Will the DA MF System and the finishing pad remove any sort of swirl at all, or must one use the D300/Cutting pad? I thought I saw a graphic on here a long ways back that it would but I can't find that now.

I don't feel the vehicle (2011 F-150) needs the cutting pad but does have some light swirls and very small clearcoat surface scuffs in a couple of places.

You could always try the D300 with the finishing pad, or the D301 with the cutting pad.

D301/Finishing pad was designed to remove any marring left behind by the D300/Cutting Pad, so it does have some degree of cut.

If you're only looking to remove very light swirls, then I think it would definitely be worth doing a test spot with D301/Finishing Pad first to see if does the job..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

In order for D301 and the finishing disc to remove even light swirls, you'd better have some pretty soft paint. Even light swirls are usually quite a bit deeper than any haze that might be left behind by D300 with the cutting disc.

But, since the DAMF System is really designed for severe defect removal, it sounds like you'd really be better off using a light application of Ultimate Compound with a foam polishing pad to tackle the defects you're dealing with. UC on a foam polishing pad at speed 5 is far less aggressive than D300/DMC5 at speed 4, but you can make the UC/foam pad combo even less aggressive still by slowing down the tool speed and easing up on the pressure.
