  • Removing swirls with these products I own.. Need guidance

    Hey guys,
First of all, as you can see I am a huge Meguiar's fan. I try to buy everything Meguiar's as I feel their product is superb. I am trying to remove the swirls marks out of my 2001 Mustang GT with the products shown below. The only thing I am hoping I need is pads and something to remove various chips in my paint. Can someone give me some guidance as to what pads I get, the process I use, and what I can use to get rid of chip in my paint? My mustang is Black by the way... Thanks!!!

You'll need some W8207 polishing pads and W9207 finishing pads but then you should be set. There isn't anything showing how bad your Mustang is but a good starting point would be:

    - Wash
    - Clay
    - Remove swirls with UC and W8207 polishing pad
    - Polish with UP and W9207 finishing pad
    - 2 coats of ULW applied with a W9207 finishing pad
    - Maintain with the UQW you have after every wash

That would be a good starting point, always try a test spot first and see how it goes!

BrightonRT provided some excellent advice. The initial swirl removal step can be done with a W8207 Foam Polishing Pad with Ultimate Compound. An optional step will be to use Ultimate Polish with the W9207 Foam Finishing Pad. But since your Mustang is black then you would benefit greatly in using Ultimate Polish after your initial UC step.

In order to know and understand how to properly use your new G110v2 DA buffer, I would suggest you read this article: D/A Buffing 101: An Introduction to the G110v2 (and-similar). In that article, substitute SwirlX with your Ultimate Compound and substitute the Deep Crystal Polish with your Ultimate Polish.

      Hope this helps.

Fantastic advice guys! Again, thanks so much!!! One more question - there is chips in my paint. I guess rocks hit it and knocked a small little chunk out. I've seen commercials for drcolorchip.com... any ideas on if that's good? Tips on anything else?

Also, do I need a backing plate for these pads? Mind you, I haven't even taken the DA out of the box so I'm not sure...

I've read great reviews about Dr Colorchip but I have no personal experience with them so I can't really comment.

Your G110v2 should come with a W68DA backing plate which are perfect for the W8207/9207 Softbuff 2.0 7" foam pads. No need to buy it.

You should look into buying this backing plate for a more concentrated area to correct.

This backing plate uses 4" pads.
