  • UP then ULW then HITYW?

Okay. Great site. Tons of info. Enjoy reading. Still can't fully figure if the following will work well. Let me know what you think, please.

Just got the car. Silver paint is in good shape. Has unknown wax currently. Dealer applied wax.

    1) Wash
    2) Ultimate Polish
    3) Ultimate Liquid Wax
    4) Hi-Tech Yellow Wax

    Thanx

    1) Wash
    2) Clay is a good step to add in
    3) Ult. Polish
    4) Wax - You could use a layer of both products, or just 2 layers of the Ult. Wax. Seems a bit of a waste to me to cover up the hydrophobic polymers in the Ult. Wax, but some people do.

Your process sounds good, but there really isn't a need to use both Ultimate Wax and M26. One or the other will do as both serve the same purpose. Ultimate will last longer since it's fully synthetic, just so you know.

Hi tech yellow wax may change the look/gloss of silver paint. Applying a second coat of ultimate wax should be more beneficial since its more durable and should give crisp shine vs. the m26 hi-tech yellow wax. No one's saying you shouldn't try it, but it's really up to you. It can change the type of gloss ultimate wax can give.

So if you do 2 layers of ULW, do you wipe off the first layer or apply over the first cost since it takes a while to dry. Swipe test seems not to work on it since it never really dries like other waxes.

Ultimate Liquid Wax does dry, and quickly, if applied thin.
Today I ran into an issue with it not drying on one section of my car. It was the hood which was very hot.
I believe if the temp is between 50-80 then most waxes dry fine.
Apply ULW thin and it dries in a few minutes. The swipe test will confirm this.

ULW can be applied to a panel at a time and wiped off whether it appears dry or not. In situations where streaking has been a problem when allowing the product to dry, this process should eliminate that issue. Bonding, longevity, level of protection all remain the same even with this quick on/off application method.

So wipe off the first coat before applying the second coat? I've never done 2 coats before.

Yes, you would apply, and remove. Then try and wait a little, 15 minutes at least if possible, and then apply your second coat, and remove.
