  • First Time Detailing Vehicle.

    Hello,

I am new to the forums and new to detailing. I purchased a new Megs 110V2 DA and can't wait to use it.

My first job will be on my wife's car. Her car has many deep swirls and paint defects, although no oxidation or deep scratches. This car is 11 years old and has never had a coat of wax.

Now that you have the history of the car this is my plan......

    - Wash
    - Clay
    - Ultimate Compound w/DA
    - Ultimate Polish or Crystal Polish w/DA
    - Ultimate Wax or NXT 2.0 w/DA

For the Ultimate Compound I plan on using Meg's 2.0 yellow pad with DA and for Utimate Polish and Wax I plan on using Meg's black finishing pads.

So, since I am new does this method sound correct? I know some pics would help but it's a white car and I don't feel pics will help much at this point, however I will deffinately take before/after pics.

I plan on taking one whole weekend on this project. It won't be until next weekend because I am going out of town. Please provide any feedback you may have, whether it's about a certain method or about the products I have chosen to do this project.

    Thanks!

UC then UP would be good. Polishing pad for UC. Polishing or Finishing for UP.

And of course make sure your washing routine is good, and good quality towels, mitts, applicators, etc... dont want to cause more swirls in the future.

And then UQW for after future washes until your next detail.

If this is your first time using a DA, do yourself a favor and read through D/A Buffing 101 - An Introduction to the G110v2 and similar tools first. It should answer almost all of your questions before you get started.

Michael beat me to it, but I was going to mention what a brave soul you are, using a DA for your first detail!

Brave? Why? The DA is soooo easy to use, and with just a tiny bit of common sense even a complete novice, going solo, can get fantastic results the first time out with one.
