I just purchased a new car that that has racing stripes that appear to be vinyl. Any ideas how to protect these? Can I use carnauba wax?

Re: Care of vinyl stipes
Most factory vinyl stripes come with a 5 year warrenty. If your stripes are any color other than matte black, you can apply whatever wax you use on the paint. If your stripes are matte black, use a quick detail spray, never in the sun and not on a hot surface. I've been installing O.E.M. vinyl kits for local dealerships for the past 10 years and have never had a problem with this process. Good luck...Ro

Re: Care of vinyl stipes
^^ Agreed - you CAN in fact wax your vinyl stripes.
Just take care to remove all the wax from around the edges where it tends to accumulate, as that can look ordinary.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
