I just purchased a new car that that has racing stripes that appear to be vinyl. Any ideas how to protect these? Can I use carnauba wax?

Unless you can contact the maker of the vinyl stripes...I would not! Wax can dry some of them out. I'd go with Ultimate Protectant...now called Ultimate Black.Barry -

Most factory vinyl stripes come with a 5 year warrenty. If your stripes are any color other than matte black, you can apply whatever wax you use on the paint. If your stripes are matte black, use a quick detail spray, never in the sun and not on a hot surface. I've been installing O.E.M. vinyl kits for local dealerships for the past 10 years and have never had a problem with this process. Good luck...RoComment

^^ Agreed - you CAN in fact wax your vinyl stripes.
Just take care to remove all the wax from around the edges where it tends to accumulate, as that can look ordinary.
