  • Pressure Washing Questions

So I plan on buying an electric pressure washer this week and had a quick question about using it on my vehicles. How much pressure is too much pressure? Also it has a little reservoir for soaps and would it be ok to use the degreaser on the wax or would it strip the wax off? thanks

I don't think its how much pressure is too much, but more so what stream setting you use on the wand. It's probably not a good idea to use the stream, haha. So make sure you have the wand shooting the water out on more of a fanned setting or whatever. I'm thinking the degreaser would definitely remove some wax at the least.

      Re: Pressure Washing Questions

For automotive finishes 1500-2000 psi would be ideal.

Anything over 2500 psi is overkill IMO.

Yes, using a degreaser in the soap reservoir will strip your wax.

As for pressure settings, while the fan setting is going to be best for a variety of reasons, just remember that 1500psi shot from 6 feet away is going to be a whole lot different than 1500psi shot from 6 inches away. Be careful around trim pieces, etc if using higher pressure at close range!

          thanks for the input
so i decided to get a 1900psi washer and not use the degreaser and yes i had a bad experience with a pressure washer so i know to keep some distance between it and the car lol

Be careful about getting to close with the wand. Karcher recommends no closer than 10 inches.
