I've recently purchased a Boss 302 Mustang that I'm wishing to go the extra mile to take care of as I fully expect this car to appreciate in value provided I continue to take excellent care of it. It's the competition orange paint with painted gloss black aluminum wheels.
I'll almost certainly be buying some of the detailing clay, but unsure which specific one to be purchasing.
Additionally I'm torn between using the ultimate paste wax or ultimate liquid wax for the primary waxing product. I would assume the liquid wax to be "safer" when it comes to accidentally getting a bit on the black trim that is all over the car?
For the secondary/finish I'm thinking of the polymer sealant, with it's secondary use being to provide an added layer of protection on the wheels against brake dust.
Finally it's been suggested I use a process of a gentle scrub with some simple green to remove any existing brake dust and other grime, rinse off the residue, then apply a layer of a sealant wax (polymer sealant presumably, or would the ultimate quick wax work better in this role?) work it in, allow it to dry, then apply a second coat. Future washes would theoretically be quick gentle scrubs to rinse off brake residue and monthly re-applications of the sealant to keep a protective barrier in place.
Finally any suggestions as to a car washing solution? This is unfortunately an area where I've managed to find no real useful information as yet, as traditionally I've always taken my cars to the high pressure stall car washes, however I don't want to use any such high pressure methods that can theoretically cause the dirt and grime to 'cut' and embed itself into the clear coat, etc.
