  • Can the chrome on these be helped or saved?

I bought a set of used foose wheels that weren't in the greatest of shape. I guess the last owner maybe thought steel wool was the best way to clean the chrome. Well anyway these things have some scratching and pitting in them, but I was wondering if there was any chance of getting a decent luster out of them again and saving myself well over $1000 to have them re chromed.

I think they are looking as good as they ever will, without a re-chrome. You can shine them up and perhaps lessen the look of the damage with one of the metal wheel polishes.
    Nice wheels...such a shame.

Our Wheel Polishing Kit would be a great choice on these, and we would probably substitute the All Metal Polish that comes in the kit with our Hot Rims Chrome Polish instead. The DynaCone makes the process really easy and takes all the elbow grease out of the process. But will it restore the wheels to "like new" condition? That's a tough one since chrome is just so darn hard and doesn't really correct the way bare, high polished aluminum does. But it should make a very noticeable improvement in the appearance.

Yeah I know they won't be perfect, but I was just hoping to regain some luster out of them. I wouldn't mind if they were say 10ft wheels, or looked nice from say 10ft away.

        Thanks eveyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used some of the meguiars chrome wheel cleaner and I have to say that it really cleaned them up alot and made them shine alot more. I need to hit them with some chrome polish now and really see if they will pop alot more in the sunlight.

Got any "after" pics? I'd love to see the result.
