I have a vw passat 2002.I never used paint product, only car wash. What should i use first.i want the paint to feel as good as new.And i want the car to shine
1. Wash - Good car wash soap, 2 buckets, good quality towels, sponges ,etc.
2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
3. ColorX
4. Wax - Nxt 2.0 is a good option for a nice shine.
Those steps will get your car shined up nicely, and be easy to do for a new comer.
If there are any swirls, scratches, etc you may want to fix or improve, that can be done, but is also more work/effort. You may want to get the car shined up this first time, and then judge after that what you want to do next, as far as more products, effort, or just keep going with this basic detail.
No ignorance there. Start by washing your car very well. Once that's done feel the paint for bonded contaminants. Being that it's only been washed you will need to clay the paint very well. You can than move on to a wax, sealant or if you want to take it to the next level after you clay start by using something like Ultimate compound. Will you be doing this by hand? or do you have any polishers and pads?
Just the add-on for the previous good suggestion. NXT 2.0 wax if my preferred wax for my pearl white car. But, if you would like the warm rich shine, especially on dark color car, Cold Class might be a great choice, too. Also, as your car been almost 10 years old, you might want to try Ultimate Compound for defect correction, then followed up with ColorX or Ultimate Polish, for the best result.
Ignorance? Well i think your being to hard on yourself. And to me, why? I have zero experience when it comes to rotary tool use.
Watch the 5step paint care cycle first to familiarize yourself with the proper steps to take in making a car shiny and keeping it that way and then go from there. This can give you an idea on what other products you can use to speed up your detailing process
