  • How soon can I paint and clearcoat before sanding/buffing?

There are few scratches and chips on my 2012 black Altima that exposes the plastic below (not down to primer). I do not own a DA polisher, but I have a friend visiting me next month who plans to get one so I can use it.
In the mean time, I am uncomfortable leaving the chips open for two reasons: (1) The white dings on black paint just look ugly! (2) I worry that exposing the scratch too long could cause oxidization

So, my question is - how long can before I wet-sand and buff can I apply touchup. Is it OK to apply paint touchup & clearcoat right now, but sand/buff it about 1-2 months later?

Well, if these deep scratches are on the urethane bumper at least oxidation isn't a huge worry since the urethane won't rust. Clean up the area and apply your color and clear touch up, then give it at least several days to cure before doing any light wet sanding and buffing to smooth everything out.
