  • Buffing with PC

    Hi:

When you use an ultimate bonnet and PC to remove wax ( sealant), can you buff the surface too much?

The question mainly applies to products like #21 and NXT (sealants).

I have been taking a clean bonnet and going back over the surface after I remove the wax (sealant). Just wondering if may be I am over doing the removal step.

    Regards,

Yes. This would be true for any products. If you really want to drill down to the nitty gritty, when you're polishing cloth is in contact with the surface, whether by hand or a bonnet on the machine, it's in contact with the surface.

    Does that make sense?

You use an wiping cloth to remove the excess product, and it does this, and if you continue to wipe the surface, the same wiping cloth will continue to remove whatever is on the surface.

Think of it from and extreme point of view, is your wiping cloth adding wax? or removing wax?

The more you wipe the surface, the potential exists to continue removing whatever coating you applied to the surface, off the surface. In most cases, you want to apply your choice of wax, allow it to fully dry, then remove the excess. Then..., walk a way, allow the polymers and other ingredients you have left behind in the microscopic surface imperfectioins, pores, fractures, etc. to fully set-up. Quit disrupting them. This includes wiping the finish down with a quick detailer type product.
