  • Mixing Products Into Car Wash

    Hi all,

I've been thinking of pouring some UQW or UQD (or products along those lines) into my car wash mix. Anyone ever do this? If so-

    Does it do anything?

Any suggestions as to which products to use, and how much?

Which car wash? (I'm thinking UW&W to boost the already present wax protection)

I understand it wasn't the intent of these products to be used in that manner, but it's worth a little experimenting.

    Thanks!

    Interesting idea!

Try it and let us know what happens!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

      Tomorrow!

Just wanted to get some ideas before I "wasted" any product.

      Cheers

I've tried it before using inferior products, i'd just stick to using a quality car wash product since the difference in shine is negligible. I'd prefer using the spray wax as you dry technique since it does give a difference. What can happen is that as lets say you already put in a certain amount of spray wax/detailer into the car wash solution. Then after removing the loose contaminants/rinsing, you'll just end up rinsing away the detailer/wax you put into the solution.
I've read somewhere here that one technique for ultimate wash and wax is to let the solution stay in the car for just a bit (without allowing it to dry on the paint) to allow more contact time of the wax in the car wash to really set into the paint.

          Very true.

Also, I've had nice, slick, water-beading results with UW&W when I let the suds dwell on the paint, so true again.

Not much point in adding some other wax to UW&W.

More worthwhile to use UQD/UQW while drying.

And really, wasting product is all you'd be doing. How much product are you going to add to the wash water - a couple of ounces? A full bottle? A couple of ounces would become so dilute in a few gallons of wash water that it would all but disappear. A whole bottle wouldn't gain you much either, but it would make for a very expensive home wash.

ffboy and Murr both mentioned using UQW as you're drying the car; this will yield far better benefits than dumping it in the wash water.

I'm a fan of using UQD while drying, and UQW after.

Is is it just me, or does using UQD while drying make it easier to dry the car off?

Seems that way to me. I just dry with the UQW...

Well, one initial wipe around with a Water Magnet or two, then a final dry and UQW spray with another Water Magnet.

Well i honestly prefer to dry the car fully before using the UQD/UQW. I don't feel to confident using it as a Wash as you dry your car thing. Unless i'm feeling a bit lazy

Re: Mixing Products Into Car Wash

I would not add anything to the the Ultimate Wash & Wax because it is a very good wash itself and I would just use UQW afterward instead of wasting product and mixing it with water. To me washing with UW&W and then drying, then applying UQW is very simple and effective and mixing the two is not something I would do.
