  • hello i need help

Hi guys. I am new to detailing and I just purchased the Meguiars G110v2 with 8006 and 9006 finishing and polishing pads. Today, I decided to detail my nighthawk black pearl Acura Rsx. I looked on youtube for some guide and I basically did the same thing. I used Ultimate Compound first and ultimate polish after. I noticed after I polished, there are some residue or some smir marks still on there. At first, I thought I did it too fast and too much at a time. Then I did the polish again working in one section of my hood at a time and wiped it off with microfiber towel but it still seem to be there. Its looks like the polish is still on there but somehow I cant get it off. I wiped it all I can with the microfiber towel. I used ultrasoft microfiber towel from autozone because I forgot to order some good ones from meguiars so I ran out to autozone and got some. Any help? The swirl marks and scratches seems to got off but it just there like smirs looking stains left over.

BUT I CANT SEE MY FINISH UNTIL IT COMES OFF. TOMORROW morning ima take a picture and show you guys.. but any suggestions would be nice. thank you!

You should wipe the polish off right away.

Did you let it dry at all?

            Re: hello i need help

Is it just in a few locations, or all over?

There are a couple easy options:

            1. can try some quick detailer to wipe over the areas and see if that removes it.
            2. try just a dab of the product wiped over the area to 're-wet' things, not working it in, and remove.
            3. can try waxing an area. Similar to step 2, it is kind of like re-wetting the area, and then removing the residue.

Your car is in decent condition, and no black turned up on the pads?

I tried using meguiars quick detailer. and it didnt work. ima try go home later and see if its still there. I did my hood first then my door. My hood look better than my door though because i polished my hood again.

Sometimes some smears from a wax will fade as the wax cures, not sure the same will happen with a polish.

Interesting that it gets better each time you use it. How old of a car are you working on?

                      Re: hello i need help

Pictures are really going to help here, but it sounds like you might have not worked the products long enough, which can make them more difficult to remove, and then didn't get everything quite fully wiped off. Have you read through D/A Buffing 101 - An Introduction to the G110v2 and similar tools to make sure you're really doing things correctly with this tool?

Ok since i put UC and UP on my car already. How can i do this over again? Just polish it back over again? Or spray some quick detailer on and wipe off then do it again? I wanna do it over again and work into it longer. and should i buy another microfiber towel because my towel feels really weak. Its ultrasoft microfiber towel i bought from autozone.

Not too much though, i would use just a bit of the products just to reconstitute them and make it easier to remove. If the product dries up on you while working them in

There are proper techniques even when working by hand. Participate in discussion or start a new thread with your question.

That what car look like. My hood and my door. Its not bad results like that but you can see somehing like that on some sides. Maybe ultimate compound was too agressive? Should i use swirlx because i have that at home but i thought my swirls was heavy so i thougjt UC was the best for it
