I was wondering if the microfiber cloths, mitts, etc are safe to use in the washer? I know not to use fabric softener but can I use detergent? Causer it seems my MF got pretty dirty in one spot.

Machine washer safe?

Re: Machine washer safe?
Machine washing is not only safe, but recommended. All microfiber materials, from wash mitts to polishing and drying towels and microfiber applicator pads can be washed together in warm water and then machine dried on low heat. As you already know, avoid use of fabric softeners and dryer sheets. You also want to keep terry cloth towels separate because the terry cloth will lint quite a bit and the microfibers will catch it all. And you'll have one heck of a time getting all that terry cloth lint out of your microfibers!
It's fairly common for people to pretreat microfiber towels with a light degreaser and/or use some distilled white vinegar in the final rinse cycle of the wash. It's not absolutely necessary, but it can help with certain heavier loads of product in the pads or towels.Michael Stoops

I noticed my water magnets after a couple of washes in the machine they no longer dry the car the same way. When they were new I needed one water magnet to dry the whole car now I use close to four. The water magnets just smear the water around where as when there new they leave no water on the car. Also the older ones are not as bright yellow as the newer ones. I never use fabric softener when washing them. I do use cold water though and very little detergent.

Re: Machine washer safe?
After a couple of washes?? We have water magnets here at work, and I at home, that are a few years old and have been washed and dried dozens of times. Yes, the color does fade a bit with time but we've not seen any drop off in effectiveness with them. In fact, we find that using them without washing them first is when they perform at their worst (ie, right out of the package) which is why we recommend an initial wash/dry cycle prior to first use.
You might want to try a little distilled white vinegar in your final rinse every now and then. I've found that when I do this at home it noticeably extends the life of my Supreme Shine microfiber towels. That and I tumble dry at such a low heat that 30 minutes is often not enough to get everything completely dry so I run it all through a second time, but only for about 15 minutes or so.Michael Stoops
