Deepest shine: Deep crystal polish or ultimate polish ?

Hi,

I am looking for a best possible shine and gloss on my new car. I also have light swirls I'd like to get rid off on my 6 month new car. Which procedure would best suit the situation:

1) Wash (NXT 2.0 Car wash)
2) Clay (smooth surface clay kit)
3) Cleaning (Swirl X)
4) Polish (Deep Crystal Polish)
5) Wax (NXT 2.0)

OR

1) Wash (NXT 2.0 Car wash)
2) Clay (smooth surface clay kit)
3) Cleaning (Ultimate Polish)
4) Wax (NXT 2.0)


Question here is, will ultimate polish do the best job of two - 'swirl x' for swirls and 'deep crystal polish' for shine.

Does UP shine and gloss compare to DCP ?

For swirl removal, by hand... I think I would need somthing stronger like SwirlX or Ult. Polish.

Not sure I would worry about following up SwirlX with a pure polish.

isn't swirl x mostly for removing swirls while dcp is a pure polish therefore would have more polishing power and shine

From my experience: M205 Ultra Finishing Polish will give you a maximum paint depth.

There really isnt 'polishing power'. A pure polish is just oils. So a pure polish will be only oils. A cleaner/polsih would have some cleaning ability, plus some oils.

So it is more a question of if the surface needs more oils or not. An older, or dried out surface, or in a harsher environment can use more. A modern clearcoat in good shape wont need as much.

Hmm it's true my car is quite new, and the swirl marks I believe are not too heavy. I could just go for swirl x or just ultimate polish. I need to decide soon as someone who is returning from U.K will pick it up from there as none of these products are available in my city.

Ult. Polish and SwirlX are close.. I wouldnt buy both.

If i wanted to have a good range of products to cover different situations, I would look at Ult. Compound and Ult. Polish.

And then Deep Crystal Polish could be added to play around with if you wanted.

If our products are difficult to find in your area and you've got someone in the UK who can bring some back for you, by all means have them get both Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. You may find that you need UC depending on the paint, defects, application process, etc and it would be a shame to miss out on it.

As for Deep Crystal Polish vs. Ultimate Polish - Ultimate has some super fine abrasives in it that will do more for cleaning the paint and even removing some very light haze that might come up during a compounding step. We're assuming that the paint is a clear coat since this is a new car, so we'd highly recommend the Ultimate Polish over DC.

Well for now Iam calling for Ultimate Polish and Smooth Surface clay kit from UK. Ultimate Compound is available here so I'll grab that too. Thanks guys for the advice and suggestions. I think a friend of mine has DA polisher and knows how to use it properly, so i'll take his help too. This will be the first time detailing my car :P (tootal Noob)

Oh one more thing, clay bar I know is good for car surface for removing bonded contaminants. But is it true that you can even do a round of it on your wind screen (I read this someone on the net I don't remember).

Yes, clay can be used (and can be beneficial) on glass, and any hard, smooth surfaces (such as wheels and even headlights).

I would only save old clay for wheels.. dont use your new clay on wheels, then use it on your paint/glass.
