  • New Truck Question

Having just purchased a new truck last weekend, I would like to get some input on what would be the best way to care for the finish from the start. I am going to wash and wax this weekend, but wanted to know if I need to do a cleaning/polishing before waxing the vehicle. I would really like to get started off right with this truck. Thanks.

    Re: New Truck Question

Wash 2 bucket system with grit guard
    Evaluate paint
    Clay if needed
Polish areas with swirls and light scratches
Good coat of wax or sealant (lights and windows too)
    Apply trim coating
Apply sealant or coating to rims
    Apply interior dressing
Maintain finish with detail spray and spray wax bt washing and full wax

Congrats on the truck! Details? Pics?

      Re: New Truck Question

Welcome to MOL, and congrats on the new truck!

Getting started on the right foot is the best way to keep any vehicle looking like new for a long time to come. Even brand spanking new vehicles can have issues, especially if they've spent any time at all on a dealer lot. While some dealers do outstanding prep work on new vehicles, others let them languish on the lot, being washed maybe weekly with a pressure washer and then dried with a series of well used terry cloth towels. In very little time those vehicles are loaded with swirls, and usually some pretty good bonded contaminants as well.

Our 5 Step Paint Care Cycle will help you learn how to evaluate the finish on your new truck and then select the right products to correct what needs to be corrected - and show you how to use them to full effect!

        I always like:

        1. Wash - Gold Class soap, 2 buckets, Girt Guards, good quality towels, sponges.
        2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
        3. ColorX
        4. Wax - Ult,. Wax, Nxt 2.0, etc...

And then of course anything you wanted to do for the interior, etc.

          Inya,

It's a 2012 Toyota Tundra TRD Off Road. It's my first new vehicle since I bought my trade in on this truck, a 2001 F-150.
