Re: APC safe on firearms?
Like Gunny says, "keep you powder dry and you eye on the target."
APC is a water based product. Think of it sort of like soap on steroids.
Are any gun cleaning products water based? I'm not up on everything current in the world of firearms, maybe somebody out there's making water based gun cleaners. But the old rule of thumb was water is bad for metal bits.
I could see using APC on rubber grips, composite stocks or maybe finished wood stocks. But for bores, actions and metal surface cleaning, I'd stick with products designed for firearms.

Well, goes to show how much I know. A little Googling around shows there are indeed a number of water based gun cleaning products available.
I would presume (or at least hope) they have specialized ingredients that ensure their compatibility with the multitude of metals found in firearms.
I stand by the recommendation to stick with products specifically intended for firearms.

Personally, I'm a fan of Break-Free for my firearms, but an enviornmentally-friendly product, Prolix, has been getting great reviews by the gun writers. APC is probably the most versatile product I use on vehicles, but for my guns I'll stick with a product designed for that use. Here's a link; http://www.prolixlubricant.com/
