  • Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash

I have used this product for years with satisfactory results, however, with the last couple jugs, it seems to me that the sudsing action is not as good as it used to be. I use a generous amount and have tried with cold water, warm water, and soft water, and suds still seem to disappear within minutes. I'm in Nebr, but hand wash my vehicles year-round as weather permits, so want a good sudsing product.

Anyone else notice the poor sudsing of Gold Class or just my imagination?

Cant help you with the Gold Class specifically, but sudsing really doesn't have anything to do with washing year round.

A bucket full of suds makes me feel better when it's 45 degrees outside and I'm outside washing vehicles

Herein lies the dichotomy. If you read many places state that suds are no big deal, yet many of us use foam guns to cover the car in foam. However, the importance is having the proper proportions of soap and water. Not too much soap to leave a film, yet enough to get proper lubrication.

Until recently, I used a method Mike Phillips called a "Caveman Method" in his book. I'd go to car wash with my bucket, dump in a measured amount of soap. Then I would put in an approximation of the right amount of water using the high pressure sprayer. Beautiful tiny, air-injected bubbles. Loved them, seemed to lubricate as the mitt floated over the car.

        Proportions, follow the instructions.

Using the foam to help the soap cling to the surface is different than saying the suds help the cleaning ability.

You need a lot of water to remove the dirt safely though.

As for the Gold Class, I agree its a great OTC car wash. Maybe the store you have been buying from were bad batches?

can someone convert the proper measurements in metric units please, you know, the system the civilised western world uses!!. Imperial measurement is old gibberish. Unfortunately I still use the 'caveman method' because of it!!

1 oz is approx 30 ml
Do a quick conversion: 1 fl. oz = 29.5735297 ml using the online calculator for metric conversions. Check the chart for more details.

When I use a product that dilutes to ounces per x gallons, I just use 125 (or multiples thereof) instead of 128 - rounder numbers. So if dilution is 1 oz to 1 gallon, then I'd use 1 ml for 125 ml water, or 8 ml per liter, etc.

The same happened to me, I let the Gold Class soap sit for a whole season. Used it and not much sudsing. I just bought new one and all is well.

The Gold Class I have been using recently would probably be considered "old" as I bought several jugs when Wal-Mart dropped the price to $4.00 a year or so ago. Normally sells for twice that, so maybe they were dumping old stuff. I also store it in my detached garage which is subject to freezing temperatures in the winter. Guess I'll buy a new jug somewhere else, keep it warm and see what happens.

the correct dilution in metric terms is 80ml per 10 litres.
