  • Mop or brush?

Just noticed that Meg's is offering a new ultra-plush wash mop.

I was giving serious thought to trying one of those new wash brushes when they come out later this month, but the mop idea is intriguing.

There is some controversy among the folks at Autopia, and perhaps here, about whether or not a brush will scratch the paint.

This mop thing sounds like the perfect remedy. Wouldn't it be better and safer than the brush?

I have been using the Versa Body brush for about a month now and no problems with scratching, I have used it on all color cars, it is truely safe in my opinion.

Thats good to hear AutoNova... I am sure there has been some extensive testing to ensure the brush will not scratch the paint. I have been keeping my eyes open everywhere I go thinking someone will be selling them locally to give them a look over.

I've been using the new body brush for a little over a month now and if anything I have to say I'm having less swirling comming back with the brush compared to any wash mit I have used in the past. Now I wish they'd just hurry up with their production and make these things available to everyone.

            Size of Mop Head ?

Can anyone tell me the size of the Meguiar's Mop head? I will be ordering one with a couple extra heads this week.

            Thanks

                There's always controversy on Autopia!

Meguiar's goal is to offer the highest quality products in each of the different accessory categories. That is to say, we believe our tools are the highest quality compared to the competition.

The best thing to do is to try the product and see if it meets your own expectations and requirements and then make up your own mind.

From past experience brushes don't scratch a car, but they dont clean that well either. The daily driver that are outside 24/7 needs a mit to remove all of the dirt. I would opt for a mop rather than a brush.

That's one of the problems with old designs, Meguiar's took that into account and our new car wash brushes have full heads of bristles, possibly twice as many as the competitors.

Definitely a product you have to try before you'll know the level of quality built into these new tools.

The smaller standard size Versa Angle Body Brush has not scratched or swirled my paint at all. It does a good job of cleaning too. And yes the bristle pattern is much more dense than the standard brushes you see at Walmart.

I really want to try the Wide Body Brush but have been unable to find one anywhere!

The only brushes I can not get here are the extractor, wide body, and the mop.

What's wrong with using a lambswool washmitt I've just started using those and i am very happy with it.

can anyone comment on if the mop will fit between the bed and cab of a pick up? can't really see how wide it is from the pics.

                              Hey 2000,

I wish I could! I have been dying to get my hands on one!!

                              Mark2,

There is nothing wrong with using a lambswool mitt as most of us use one as well. But, it is all about choice! Some people would like to use a brush or have a tall truck where the Mop would be ideal for the roof etc...
