Ultimate Compound would probably be the next logical step in terms of aggressiveness. Are you working by hand or DA?

Was the car swirled out when you bought it, or has it happened over time while you've owned it? You may want to reevalute your washing technique to see if you're causing the swirls - using two buckets, grit guards, etc. goes a long way toward minimizing the potential for swirling.

As above - time to step it up to UC - especially if you're working by hand!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Esp working by hand, products need to be worked in well, not just wiped around. And focusing on a panel at a time. Dont try to do the whole car at once.

I'd also want to try the Ult. Compound... a little extra strength can help by hand.

Not such a bad idea. ScratchX is right in between SwirlX (which you've already tried) and UC in terms of agressiveness.

Try the ScratchX first if you're really worried about going too agressive - just keep in mind that you may end up having to try UC later anyway.

                      **EDIT** Yes, pics always help.

                        Pics never hurt.

Just saying the difference between ScratchX and UC isnt that drastic to buy both products.

UC is your next step. You have to go more aggressive if the less aggressive method isnt working. There really isn`t another option as far as that goes.

We would go with UC straight away, no question. Have a look through the various threads with pictures from our Saturday Classes and you'll see a huge variety of cars loaded with swirls, and we always use UC in our demos. The routine is to do a test spot by hand on one side of the hood and another test spot by DA right next to it. Sometimes the hand application needs a bit more elbow grease than other times, but that's down to the level of defects present and the varying hardness of the different paints we end up working on. Don't forget that you can alter the total cut of any product depending on how aggressively you use it, meaning that if you go easy with UC it's going to work very slowly, but if you put some muscle behind it you'll cut through severe defects faster. UC uses SMAT abrasives so it's not like the old "rocks in a bottle" type products that will scour a modern clear coat.
