  • Paint repair

I repaired a scratch in my bumper by cleaning, sanding and feathering, but after I painted it with a spray can (outside, not indoors) the paint came out way to dry looking. (The color was an excellent match though.)

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla painted factory "Super White."

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like you still need to spray some clear over it.

Sometimes when using an aerosol-style touch-up paint the paint can dry (partially) before hitting the surface. There is a name for it but it escapes me at the moment. I had this happen when doing an airbrush touch-up and it made the paint appear to be very dull.

I re-sprayed the area and sprayed closer to the car so it did not have as much time to dry in the air and it fixed my problem. Not sure if that is your issue, but worth considering.

Painting outdoors can be tricky because you have the wind and sun factor that can dry the paint too fast .

Spraying closer to the panel( as mentioned) and /or slowing down you arm speed can fix this problem .

Its better though not to get it too wet ,then you risk getting a run .

If its not too dry and you sprayed enough paint you can color sand it extreemly lightly and then polish it by hand with Megs 105,then 205.
