Looking at some of the sites and everyone is raving about Black diamond. What product does Meguiar's have that is close to Black diamond?

Depends on paint system one of these products should deliver:

    Ultimate Wax
NxT Tech Wax 2.0 or M21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0
M26 High Tech Yellow Wax (it's a hybrid: mix of natural and synthetic ingredients)

Our Ultimate Wax is very similar (and a lot less money) - full synthetic, easy on, easy off, great shine and long lasting protection. From a "user experience" standpoint, however, it's a bit trickier than that. The liquid version of Ultimate Wax spreads super thin and easy while BFWD applies more like a traditional liquid wax (which is a good thing, by the way), but the liquid version of UW will almost give the appearance of not hazing over in a traditional way while BFWD will. Further, with the liquid version of UW you can apply to a panel or two and wipe off after just a couple of minutes rather than applying to the whole vehicle and waiting 15 minutes. If fact, you'll likely find this to be the easiest way to use the liquid version of UW. Now, in paste form UW is a bit different; it goes on very thin and super easy for a paste wax, and it will haze over completely so you can cover all the painted surfaces of the car in one go. It also dries very quickly so once you've covered the car you can start wiping off right away. But with either version of UW, and definitely with BFWD, you want to lay down a very thin coat. BFWD will dust a bit on wipe off if you apply it too heavy.

Thanks Mike, Just happened that I have Ultimate Liquid wax unused. Will give it a test try on Cadillac Black paint.

Well just tried Ultimate Liquid Wax and my preference is still Gold Class Carnauba Plus paste wax. Like you said " find what works for you and stick with it".
          Thanks

            Mark, you're super fast.

Don't give up on Ultimate Wax yet. On some dark paints it finishes as good as it gets.

^^^ I agree with Greg. It took me 2 bottles of ULW to finally like it. You may also want to try the paste version. I LOVE Ultimate Paste Wax.

                Re: Blackfire wet diamond?

Car is in garage most of the time, so sometimes like today (rainy) I try different things on flat surface like the trunk. I did not see any difference at all, but again it might be as good as it gets. Reflection is as clear as looking into mirror without any hazing so not much more I can get out of it. When you are retired and nothing else to do on rainy day I spend time in my garage.
                Thanks

Geez, Mark, it took you all of 7 minutes to determine that you like Gold Class over UW? That's kind of amazing. Don't get us wrong, we're not knocking you on this, or criticizing you in any way - lots of people love Gold Class, especially on dark colors, and we can't fault them for that. It's just that in forum circles, 7 minutes is lightning fast!! We're kind of impressed, honestly.

                    Re: Blackfire wet diamond?

Well, to be honest Mike as soon as I posted my question I went to see what unused Meg product I had. Ultimate liquid wax JUMPED at me and said "try me first" so I did 1/2 trunk on the car which did not take long since car is sitting in garage all cleaned up. No matter what I try still looks same to my OLD eyes. LOl
Problem is the more you read the more confused you get. The moral of the story is DON'T RETIRE! too much free time on your hands.
Problem #2 is power of advertising. Everyone has the best products. I will stick with what I know and used before lot of the members here were born,,,, MEGUIAR'S !!!!

                      Re: Blackfire wet diamond?

Waxes and sealants are odd things, really. So much is discussed about them and so many claims are made, but we all see things a bit differently and sometimes the visual differences can be very subtle indeed. We can make definitive claims such as "Ultimate Wax is our longest lasting, best protecting wax" because it's a quantifiable truth. But if your eyes tell you that M26 looks better, and you enjoy waxing your car regularly so a monthly regimen is enjoyable for you, then you don't really care how long a wax lasts. And no wax, regardless of the price, is going to take a badly swirled or oxidized car and make it look new again. It just doesn't work that way. So, as the saying goes, find something you like and use it often. Don't stress over it - this hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy. Yours truly has been telling people that for years!

                        Re: Blackfire wet diamond?

Well I Ultimate Quick wax on drivers side and hood. On the hood when car is outside it appears there are blotches. While in the garage looks great. I guess only one thing to do is apply a second coat and see results. So far I like it on Black car.

                          Re: Blackfire wet diamond?

I've had that once or twice with UQW on my black car too, and found it to be humidity related. i.e. it will blotch / streak when applied in a humid environment.
                          That was my conclusion anyway...

The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

If you're getting any sort of unevenness with UQW give this a try: spray it directly onto your folded microfiber towel, a bit heavier than might think you need to, and then wipe it onto the paint rather than spraying it on directly. Now wipe immediately with a clean, dry microfiber towel. That should prevent any uneven appearance.

OOOOPS,,,It was Ultimate LIQUID Wax applied with LC Black pad and it showed blotches. After wiping it off I let the car sit overnight and applied 2nd coat. looks great now.
